Geppert Group Strengthens Commitment to Nepal’s Hydropower Sector 

Kathmandu. In a landmark event organized by M/s Darchula Power Limited for the Financial Closure Ceremony of their upcoming Project 28.3 MW Madhya Chameliya Hydroelectric Project attended by key stakeholders of Nepal’s hydropower sector, Mr. Guntram Geppert, CEO and Owner of the Austria based Geppert Group, reaffirmed the company’s long-standing commitment to advancing clean and sustainable energy solutions in Nepal.

Speaking before the esteemed board members of M/s Darchula Power Ltd. and HonourableMinister of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Mr. Deepak Khadka, and leading representatives from financing institutions and hydropower developers, Mr. Geppert thanked them for entrusting his group with this project and highlighted the group’s contributions and future roadmap in Nepal.

Mr. Geppert said “We extend our sincere gratitude to the board of Darchula Power Ltd. for placing their confidence in Geppert by selecting us as their contractor for supply of Electro-Mechanical (E&M) works. Under their visionary leadership, we have already successfully delivered the 40 MW Upper Chameliya Hydropower Project and the 9.7 MW Ingwa Khola Hydropower Project, both now operating efficiently.”

Mr. Geppert said the Geppert Group has made significant strides not only in Nepal but also internationally, collaborating with various hydropower developer across the globe. Despite financial challenges in 2023 faced by one of its group companies, Geppert overcame adversity and revitalized its Nepal operations. Mr. Geppert acknowledged the unwavering support from hydropower developers in Nepal during this period.

 

Mr. Amarjit Singh Makhija, Director of Geppert Hydro India Pvt Ltd. said the company has successfully commissioned cumulative capacity of 144 MW of hydro power projects in Nepal and another 76 MW is under construction. Recent completions include 6 MW Super Hewa HPP and the 4.72 MW Upper Piluwa II HPP in Sankhuwasabha, advancing the country’s green energy goals. Mr. Makhija further said, 998 kW Chukeni Khola HPP in Jumla District developed by AEPC and financed by ADB stands as a testament to Geppert’s commitment to electrifying remote regions through sustainable off-grid solutions.

Mr. Rajkishor Yadav, Country Director – Geppert Nepal added that the local office of Geppert Hydo is operating since 2022 in Panipokhari, Kathmandu, providing vital support and expertise to Nepal’s hydropower industry. With a team of experienced engineers, the company ensures timely services, refurbishment, critical spare parts supply, and long-term project reliability.

Mr Geppert concluded by saying as we look ahead, our focus remains on forging strong partnerships, supporting local development, and advancing clean energy for Nepal. Together, we will progress and fullfil our commitment to Empowering Everyone Everywhere.
