KATHMANDU: The Lumbini cable car to be developed between Bamghat in Butwal sub-metropolitan city of Rupandehi district and Basantpur Danda in Tinahu Rural Municipality of Palpa district, will come into operation in January 2023, said concerned officials. Chandra Prasad Dhakal, Chairman of the company said that the construction of the cable car will be completed by December with the target to commence operation in January.
The cable car is being developed targeting Basantapur Hill, where the developer is planning to develop other facilities including hotels, amusement parks, and temples. He said, “The construction work of about 400 meters of the access road leading to the lower station of the cable car has been completed”. According to him out of the 9 towers, the civil construction work of 8 towers has been completed while the work on the remaining towers is progressing.
Dhakal said that the work of the substructure at the upper station is in the final stage and the work of importing cable car equipment and parts is moving smoothly. Similarly, the construction of the temple area at the upper station will also have to be completed along with the cable car project. Former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli laid the foundation stone of the cable car on February 1, 2019.
