FNCCI urges FM to collaborate with the private sector for economy

KATHMANDU: The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) urged Finance Minister Janardan Sharma to collaborate with the private sector to save the economy. A delegation from the FNCCI, the apex body of Nepal’s private sector, led by its president Shekhar Golchha, drew the attention of the Finance Minister to the negative indicators of the national economy.

The delegation also vented grievances that the first quarter review of the monetary policy of the current financial year failed to address the existing problems facing the economy.

During the meeting with the Minister of Finance, Golchha said that the revenue could not cover even ordinary expenses. The price hike has reached heights at every point since its peak seven years back, adding that the private sector is shrinking.

On that occasion, Finance Minister Sharma took positively the initiative taken by the FNCCI to reduce the risk to the economy. Sharma also assured that the government was serious about the problems facing the private sector.
