KATHMANDU: Construction companies have made a written promise to complete the road projects that are under construction for years but have not been completed in the Kathmandu Valley within the stipulated time. The companies have committed to delivering the project by setting a timeline.
At an interaction that was also attended by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Physical Infrastructure and Transport Narayan Kaji Shrestha, the construction entrepreneurs made the pledge to expedite the implementation of the projects. The Secretary of the Ministry, the Director General of the Road Department, and the heads of various projects were also present on the occasion.
During the interaction, the builders spoke about the difficulties they faced with their respective contracts and sought the necessary government support to create an environment to move forward with the project seamlessly.
According to the Secretariat of the Minister of Physical Infrastructure and Transport (MoPIT), the project construction professionals of the three districts of the valley participating in the
interaction promised to complete the projects under their respective contracts within the specified time frame.
There are 11 projects in the valley to be completed with a deadline. There are six and five projects with low performance in Kathmandu and Lalitpur districts respectively. Builders and the Division Road Office in Bhaktapur agreed to carry out four projects in the Bhaktapur district.

Projects in Bhaktapur
According to Arjunjang Thapa, Director General of the Department of Roads informed it was agreed at the interaction to modify the projects that the builders had partially completed and the projects could not be completed due to the obstruction of the locals.
Some of these road projects have been completed at the local level despite the contract, while some have been stuck for years due to little work.
