KATHMANDU . Preparations for the fourth edition of ‘Himalayan Hydro Expo, 2024’ have reached the final stage. Joint planning by the Association of Independent Energy Producers, Nepal (IPAN) and the Expo and Event Management Services Authority, preparations for the upcoming Expo to be held on the 12th, 13th and 14th of Baishakh (April 24, 25 and 26) have reached the final stage two weeks ago.
President Ramchandra Paudelbat is preparing to inaugurate this expo with the slogan ‘Green Energy for Prosperity’. The Hydro Expo is organized under the patronage of the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation and the Embassy of India as the country partner of Nepal.
The Government of Nepal has signed a long-term agreement to export 10,000 MW electricity to India in 10 years, a roadmap has been prepared to generate 28,500 MW electricity by 2035 and the third expo will be organized on the eve of the conference. A grand expo has been organized for the private sector to give concrete shape to the energy, economic prosperity and light of the country and to connect it with Nepal. IPPAN expects the expo to be a suitable destination for exchange of knowledge and information regarding the huge potential for increasing internal consumption and export marketing of electricity produced in Nepal.
EXPOMA is open to all stakeholders including government and non-profit bodies, universities/colleges, domestic and foreign investor companies, donor bodies, diplomatic employers, friendly nations, national and international consulting companies, construction business companies, banks and financial institutions, insurance companies, etc., concerned with energy development. With the presence of representatives, eminent personalities, scientists, experts and policy debates on various aspects of energy prosperity, as well as the exhibition of new technologies and equipment, the participation of nearly a dozen countries was confirmed.
Expoma Digo, 7th technical session on various aspects of inclusive, green, accessible and productive energy development including indigenous and foreign investment, capital accumulation and management, people’s participation, internal consumption and power trade, prosperity and social development, priority of policy and politics etc. And interaction programs will be planned.
A competition to promote the development and expansion of Hydro Power, a competition to showcase new concepts of hydro power related goods and services by students and individuals, a competition to showcase the goods and services invented by youth, a youth library, a competition to produce a two-minute video on green energy for the purpose of increasing interest in hydro power related activities, will become an attraction at the Expo. Arrangements have been made with attractive prizes for the winners of both these legislative competitions.
Similarly, with the aim of increasing internal consumption of electricity and increasing public awareness regarding the use of environment-friendly vehicles, the Expo has been organized on the morning of this same day. Starting from Sky Walk Tower Kamaladibat and passing through the main places like Yali Electricity Authority, Singhdarbar, Sheetal Niwas, Baluwater etc. the journey covered about 26 Kms and ending at Bhrikuti Mandapam, the venue of Expo.
Yalima electric weights running 2 pangre, 3 pangre, 4 pangre and 6 pangre are given to the participants free of cost. Apart from this, the green hydrogen car and tractor developed by Kathmandu University are expected to become attractions of the Expo.
