Kathmandu: The construction of the double-circuit transmission line of 132 kV from Dhalkebar in Dhanusha to Loharpatti in Mahottari has been completed. The construction of the Dhalkebar-Loharpatti transmission line substation, along with the Loharpatti 132 kV substation, has also been completed and brought into operation.
To improve the power supply system in Dhanusha and Mahottari, increase the power route arrangement, and ensure adequate and quality power supply, the government and the Nepal Electricity Authority have invested approximately Rs. 1 billion 13 crores. The double-circuit transmission line spans 23 kilometers, with 91 transmission towers constructed along the route.
The 132/33 kV substation is equipped with two 30 MVA power transformers, and the 132/11 kV substation has one 22.5 MVA transformer, bringing the overall substation capacity to 82.5 MVA.
With the start of power supply from this substation, about 1.5 lakh customers, mainly in the Janakpur, Jaleshwar, Gaushala, and Yadukuwa distribution centers, will benefit. According to Munindra Thakur, Director of the Madhesh Regional Office of the Nepal Electricity Authority, issues such as reduced leakage, low voltage, and intermittent power cuts (tripping) in the area will now be resolved, ensuring adequate, reliable, and high-quality power supply.
Previously, electricity was supplied to this area from Dhalkebar to Janakpur through Muzaffarpur, but there were issues related to line length and capacity, low voltage, and frequent tripping.
A structure has been prepared to supply power locally through four 33 kV feeders. Two of these 33 kV feeders will supply power to Jaleshwar, one to Gaushala, and one to Janakpur. Meanwhile, the construction of the 33 kV feeder towards Janakpur has been completed and is now operational.
Additionally, arrangements have been made to lay out a four-feeder line of 11 kV to supply electricity to the areas around the Loharpatti substation. In this context, the construction of two feeders has been completed and brought into operation. The planning for this transmission line project started about three years ago.
