The abolition of natural resource levy on factory price of cement

KATHMANDU: Nepal Cement Producers Association has welcomed the decision of the Bagmati Province government to cancel the factory price natural resource duty being levied on the cement/clinker manufacturing industry.

Issuing a press statement on 13th July welcoming the cancellation of the 0.25 percent tax imposed earlier on the cement/clinker manufacturing industry. Bagmati Province government through the bill for the fiscal year 2022/23 had removed the tax, which was pushing up the cost of production making Nepali cement less competitive in both domestic as well as international market.

The association also expressed its happiness that the budget of the Bagmati province has continued the provision of no tax on the limestone used by the cement industries. Due to the policy of the provincial government to protect indigenous industries, the country will witness significant use of Nepali limestone
