Khumaltar Knowledge Park is a priority of the Ministry of Communications

KATHMANDU, The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology has given a budget ceiling of 8 billion rupees for 2079/80. The Commission has given a budget ceiling for various plans and programs under the Ministry. On the other hand, the Ministry has been saying that the budget according to the ceiling given by the Commission will be insufficient. The ministry has been lobbying to increase the budget by 4 billion rupees more than the ceiling set by the commission.

Vinod Prakash Singh, Joint Secretary and Spokesperson of the Ministry said that the budget should be increased as the budget will be insufficient for the programs and plans that will be conducted throughout the year. According to him, the ministry has prioritized the plan to build a knowledge park at Khumaltar in Lalitpur in the next 2079/80 budget.” The plan to build a knowledge park in Khumaltar is one of our priorities in next year’s budget,” he said.

The ministry is also preparing to allocate a budget with priority for the structure of the postal department. The ministry had allocated 8 billion in 2079.

Only 18.92 percent of the capital expenditure was spent in the budget till mid-March. The Ministry is also preparing to implement the ‘Digital Nepal Framework’ plan in coordination with the relevant agencies.

The government approved the framework 3 years ago, i.e. on 5th October 2076, and implemented it. However, so far this framework has not been implemented effectively. 8 areas are included in the framework. Digital foundation, agriculture, health, education, energy, tourism, finance, and urban infrastructure are being promoted as areas of Digital Nepal.
