First Track Karting held in Nepal

KATHMANDU:  The ‘Schools to Track Karting’ competition was organized under the ‘Formula One in Schools’ program, the first-ever event of its kind in Nepal.

This competition, jointly organized by Nepal Automobiles Association (NASA Nepal) and Kathmandu Engineering College, was held on Saturday at Himalayan Motorland, Dhulikhel. ‘School to Track Karting’ is the basic sport related to motor racing to be played at the school level. The final stage of this game is the ‘Formula One’ competition.

Korniva Maharjan won the Karts racing competition. In the competition determined by the best lap time, Korniva scored 24. She completed the lap in 23 seconds, Sujata Sharma clocked 25.06 seconds and Prashti Sigdel came third with 25.34 seconds. The three winners represented Nepal Tourism and Hotel Management Foundation (NTHMF)

The coordinator of Formula One in Schools Nepal, Suyog Khanal said that 35 students from Thapathali Campus, Kathmandu Engineering College, Cosmos College, and NTHMF had participated in the competition.

At the beginning of the competition, FIA World Council Member Govind Bhattarai, NASA Nepa, l Vice President Sitaram Neupane, and Suyog Khanal gave orientation and training on personality development, motorsports, karting, and Formula One.
