70 pc work completed in Seti River Project

KATHMANDU: The developer of the Seti River Hydropower Project has reported that it has completed 70 percent of the work in the construction component. The the25Mw project is being developed by Vision Lumbini Urja Ltd in MachhapuchhreRural Municipality of Kaski. Jagat BahadurPokharel, chairman of the company, said that the construction of the structure in the dam area of ​​the project is in the final stage.  According to Pokharel,90 percent of the work on the dam and descender basin has been completed.

 “Our project is about to reach the final stage of construction. We have come to this situation because we have progressed the project without halting works even during the Covid-19 pandemic,” he said. He also said that 60 percent of the project’s 6.2 km long low-pressure penstock pipe laying work has been completed while 25 percent is in power plant construction. The electricity generated from the project will be connected to the Lahachoksubstation, which is 4 km away from the power plant. 

The company said that the Transmission Line (TL) will also be ready by the time the project is completed. An agreement has been signed with Z Infra Company for the construction of the TL. It is estimated that the total project cost will reach Rs 5 billion without a rise in cost due to the pandemic. Project officials said 70 percent of the investment in the project is arranged from a loan while the remaining is equity.
