Two more villages connected with the national grid

KATHMANDU: The electricity distribution has been connected with the national grid in Timang of Ward No. 1 and Thanchok Village of Ward No. 2 of Chame Rural Municipality of Manang District. Gupta Bahadur Rana, chief of administration of Manang Distribution Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) said that the power was supplied through a 29 km Transmission Line (TL) from Chiplebensi Substation in Marsyangdi Rural Municipality-5. After rebuilding the TL and putting the newly built 33/11 KV circuit substation into operation in May, electricity was supplied to these two villages. The flood in June swept away the structure of the TL  affecting local electrification work. The NEA is planning to extend electrification to Tilicho Lake and Thorang Base Camp through this substation. For the first time in the Manang district, electricity was distributed through the national grid in February 2020. Earlier the trans-Himalayan district was electrified by small hydropower.
