Dharan mayor assured of federal support 

KATHMANDU: The federal government has pledged to help Dharan Sub-Metropolitan city in Sunsari district of Province-1 end the deepening water supply problem. The Mayor of the sub-metropolitan city, Harka Sampang, met Finance Minister Janardan Sharma recently to seek support from the federal government for resolving a long-standing water shortage.  In the meeting with Sampang, Finance Minister Sharma assured that the ministry will support with the necessary budget to complete the water supply project once the technical preparations are finalized. “You and your team have done exemplary work in mobilizing people for local development, especially in exploring alternative sources of water for Dharan. I assure you that the federal government is with you. Other local governments can also follow suit,” Sampang quoted minister Sharma as saying. 

During the meeting, mayor Sampang asked the minister for technical and financial support in developing water supply infrastructure for Dharan. Sampang had launched an election campaign putting the agenda of resolving perennial water shortage on the top of the election pledges.
