KATHMANDU: The Indian company National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) Limited and PTC India signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the sales of electricity to be generated from the West Seti + SR 6 hydropower project. The MoU on the power sales was signed by NHPC’s Chairman and Managing Director AK Singh and PTC India’s Chairman and Managing Director Rajiv Kumar Mishra at the NHPC corporate office in Faridabad, Haryana.
As per the MoU, PTC will purchase power for India and neighboring countries from the date of commercial operation of the project.
The NHPC had recently signed an MoU with the Investment Board Nepal (IBN) to study and construct the 1200 MW project which will be developed in Sudurpaschim Province.
The HPC has signed the MoU with the IBN to study and develop the 750 MW West Seti Project and 450 MW Seti River -6 as a joint West Seti Project. The company, which signed an agreement for the sale of electricity within two weeks of signing the agreement with Nepal, has to complete the studies of both projects within two years. In line with the MoU, NHPC will have to apply for the study permit of the West Seti Project within 45 days and for the permit of the Seti River-6 Project within the next 6 months. The 52nd meeting IBN held on July 23 had decided to let NHPC build these projects.
