USD 19 bn investment needed for net zero target  

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that an investment of USD19 billion is required to meet the goal of reducing carbon emissions to zero. Deuba made the remark while addressing the ‘Sustainable Infrastructure Investment Forum 2022’ organized by the Investment Board on Tuesday. “Time has come to invest in building sustainable infrastructure for sustainable economic growth of the country.`For sustainable economic growth, the green economy should be developed by investing in green infrastructure. There is a need for structural transformation of the current economy in order to increase investment in green infrastructure,” he said. . He expressed confidence that the program will be successful in attracting investment in the field of green infrastructure. The project bank directory introduced by the Board was released on the occasion. 

Sushil Bhatta, Chief Executive Officer of the Investment Board, said that the past 10 years have been fruitful for the Investment Board in terms of the implementation of infrastructure projects.
