Accor group to invest to build Mercure Kathmandu Hotel in Nepal

KATHMANDU: Accor Group, the hospitality giant, is planning to build and operate the Mercure Kathmandu hotel in Nepal.  The actor which owns manages, and franchises hotels, resorts, and vacation properties has invested in more than 430 hotels in various countries including India, the Middle East, Africa, and Turkey.

This group, which is a leading investment company in the hotel business, has incorporated The Metropolitan Hotel, Private Limited, to build the Mercure Kathmandu. An agreement was signed between The Metropolitan Hotel and Accor India, South Asia to build a hotel in 2023. As per the agreement, Accor Group will invest in the construction of a 102-room hotel near  Kathmandu near Tribhuvan International Airport.

The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) and SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SACCI): Deshbandhu Basnet, Bijaya B. Malla, and Rajendra Raut are key investors of the hotel. Punit Dhawan, senior vice president of Accor India and South Asia, said that he is glad to sign the agreement to establish the first Mercure hotel in Nepal.

“ I am eager to work honestly according to the contract and complete the construction of the hotel and regulate its operation,” said Dhawan. According to Dhawan, Mercure is one of the most prestigious mid-scale brands in the world.
