KATHMANDU: The Governments of Nepal and Australia signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for cooperation in water resources management.
The MoU was inked between the two countries on Monday during the secretary-level meeting between Nepal and Australia in Canberra, Australia. Dinesh Kumar Ghimire, Secretary of Water and Energy Commission of Nepal, and Jan Adams, Secretary of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Australia signed the MoU representing their respective governments.
On the occasion, Nepal’s Foreign Secretary Bharatraj Paudel, South Asia Division Chief Lok Bahadur Thapa, Nepali Ambassador to Australia Kailashraj Pokharel, and Under Secretary Sita Basnet were also present. Secretary Paudel and Australian counterpart Adams also discussed issues of bilateral relations. A meeting of the secretary-level mechanism is going to be held Tuesday. Bilateral relations, trade, and other issues are scheduled to be discussed at the meeting.
