KATHMANDU: The engineering license examination, which has been on hold for a long time, is going to be resumed in March this year.
Although a notification was issued to fill up the online form for this examination to be conducted by the Nepal Engineering Council, which was opened on September 13, 2022, the examination could not be conducted.
The meeting of the Nepal Engineering Council held on Sunday decided to start filling up the license examination form on January 4. As per the Nepal Engineering Council Act, the examination has become mandatory for those who want to practice engineering.
This Act has provisioned that no person who has studied engineering can provide engineering services without getting registered with the Nepal Engineering Council. In order to register the name, one has to pass the exam conducted by the council.
According to the Act, registered engineers who violate or do not follow the Code of Professional Conduct will be punished by the Council in accordance with the Act. The punishments include giving a warning, not being able to do engineering business for a specific period, suspending the registration certificate, and also removing the name from the registration book.
